Read for the Record is October 4th!
Be a part of a national campaign to get as many students reading the same book on the same day. This year, Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad is the book that has been chosen. Please take time to read the book to your students or follow the link below watch the book being read.

Book It! Begins
The Book It! program sponsored by Pizza Hut begins October 1st through the end of March. Packets were placed in all classroom teacher's boxes. Register your certificates, set a class goal for each month and READ! Students can earn a free personal pan pizza each month just by meeting your classroom goal. What a great incentive for encouring our students to read. Also be sure to visit the website for more information and printables: http://www.bookitprogram.com/teachers/
Do You Know Where Your Books Are?
October is the month to return or pay for lost and overdue books. Each class will receive a list of students who have books out. All classrooms that are 100% clear by October 31st will receive a popsicle party the first week in November. A class list will be given to the teacher and individual notices will go home to students. I am willing to make deals such as payment plans and/or service hours. Students will need to see me to work out the conditions. We want our students to be responsible Calvert citizens.

Name That Fish
We have a new addition to the Calvert LMC. Mr. Jessie has donated a Beta to spend time in our peaceful library. However, our lonely little fish needs a name. He is a red. He is a fantail Beta and he is male. He is very lonely because he cannot have other friends over in his tank. He will fight with them--how sad! Your students have the chance to name our new little friend. The contest will run from October 2nd-October 11th. Our fish's name will be announced on Friday, October 12th.
